Oh yes, I have started climbing and I actually like it! I was very anxious, okay, I suffer from anxiety so that was going to be a no-brainer really wasn't it? But I was. I have only ever tried climbing once before, many years ago on a cliff face in South Devon and I froze. Half way up and half way down, I couldn't move. I just wanted to cry, so I did once I had humiliated myself completely and run away of course. So, why have I started again? Well, I am all for the challenge!
Okay, so I have to own up, I have been going for quite a few months now, pretty much a year to be honest. But it is only now that I can start to truthfully say that I am a climber. Why? Well, because the last time I went I actually climbed my first routes. Hell yeah! Please note I am just a beginner, but I was SO thrilled when I completed my first 4a, and then went on to complete a 4b soon after. For someone who a year ago couldn't even make it to the top of a wall this is a major achievement.
So where to from here? Well, I shall keep on climbing, keep practising, build up my upper body strength and once the weather improves I am really looking forward to getting on some real rock in the fabulous Wye Valley. Oh and I think the hubby and I may well sneak a weekend of Scrambling in up in North Wales too :-)
In the mean time, I shall keep heading to The Warehouse in Gloucester.
Next stop Ben Nevis North Face Winter 2017?
