My name is Eli and I have had a love of the outdoors since I was a child & used to watch my brother with envy as he went canoeing, climbing and walking with Scouts. I however was a Girl Guide (not for long, perhaps I shall tell you the story behind that one day) and the most exciting thing we got to do was knit a Brownie Guide Doll. I am terrible at knitting despite being a Designer with an MA in Textiles from the Royal College of Art!
When I was 13, my parents sent my best friend & I off for an Outdoor Adventure weekend and it was here that my intense love of outdoor activities began in its earnest.
Living in the Wye Valley I get to hike in the Brecon Beacons & Black Mountains, I get to paddle the River Wye, walk around the Forest of Dean & climb cliffs along the valley.
My career until now has been the polar opposite of this and the stress and strains of running a successful Textile Design Degree Programme (told you it was the polar opposite) and teaching under persistent pressures resulted in my 'burning out' as the Doc put it. So, having been diagnosed with Stress & Anxiety I turned back to the Outdoors to help me heal and this blog is mainly about my adventures and time spent in the outdoors (To Outdoors) and a bit about my dealing with my health & well being (the 'beyond').
So....to Outdoors & Beyond!
